Billion Dollar Smile – How would I use the Miss England title to make people smile? Telling the World about our Good & Courageous Communities
One of the best parts about being a journalist is helping
tell the world about amazing people and their stories.
I think England is fantastic nation; we are one of the most
charitable and giving countries in the world and we are a society built on care
and affection for one another.
Naturally people smile when they see good things and hear
about good people.
I’ve had the honour of working closely with Southampton
Hospital Charity, where I’ve been and seen the chemotherapy wards, ran a
half-marathon for them, modelled and presented at their fashion show most recently
held an arts and crafts day for the children’s hospital. I really hope I made
the people of Southampton smile with my hard work, and I hope that when the
public read our stories of determination, goodwill and courage, it will make
them smile.
I had to smile through a particularly tough time last year when my boyfriend was very sick and had to have treatment. But when we attended the chemo ward, everyone there was smiley and joyful despite the pain and illness they were going through. Their bravery made me smile, and now I carry that with me and tell others, which also transcends into them smiling and admiring those wonderful patients.
There isn’t anything more beautiful than when you wear a
smile, and I want to make the world smile more, and marvel at what England, and
our charities and communities are accomplishing.
Let's be honest, when you look at this picture, you can't help but smile. I smile every time I see it because it reminds me to be positive, fight for what you want and to never give up when there is darkness, as light always follows.
